Background of Uttara Town College An outstanding private institution with challenging outlook of 21st century Uttara Town University College had been started in October’1998 as a breakthrough in the conventional pattern of teaching with a mission of dissemination of modern, dynamic and utility based education at Uttara, a thriving modern satellite town of Dhaka Metropolis. The idea of establishment of such an institute has emerged not from a single brain, rather it is the outcome of long nourished thoughts of some prominent educationists, academicians and Govt. high officials of the country. To materialize the dream they constitute Uttara Academic Foundation (UAF), a non-political, non-profitable and charitable organization. Now UAF with a strong Governing Body governs the college. Initially, the college was started with the HSC courses in Science, Humanities, and Business studies with modern Lab Facilities for science and Computer learning. With the short span of time, BA, BSS, BBS Pass and Honors courses have been introduced with the vision of converting it into a full-fledged modern university. Now the college is running four year Honors Courses in eight subjects- English, Political Science, Social Work, Economics, Accounting, Management, Marketing and Finance & Banking. To meet the ever-increasing demands of the age, in the session 2009’-10 four-year BBA Course has started, which is a mile stone and a unique opportunity for Uttara Model Town and its surrounding area. Moreover, four-year Hons. Course in Electornics & Commutation Engineering, Masters Courses in six subjects and B. Sc Pass course are going to be introduced very soon.
