A brief history of Khilgaon Model College (found from college documents ) In the decade of 1970, in the east of Dhaka Metropolitan City there were no so good educational institutions. At that time some education interested and patron of learning persons became interested to establish an educational intuition. With a view to materializing their dream into reality they formed an organizing committee on 10 November 1969 with Mr. Shameem Misir in the chair . The committee gave charge to Mr. Sobhan on 19.12.69 to run the college as Principal. With the utmost efforts and sincerity of the chairman and secretary of the organizing committee, the college was inaugurated on 24 August 1970,by Bangabandhu Shaik Mujibur Rahman . The college started its classes on 1st September in 1970 at the local Model School (at night) with 40 students and 12 teachers. After that, the then MP Mr. Shameem Misir,as the chairman of land Distribution Committee, for the declaration and directives of Bangabandhu Shaik Mujibur Rahman, alloted nine bigha lands for the college . After 1975, the allocation was cancelled and 7 bigha lands, were re-allocated. From 1970-71educational session, the college achieved/ got permission of imparting lessons of BISE Dhaka and on 01.07.1977 the college was affiliated under BISE Dhaka. In 1983-84 the college was affiliated in degree level from Dhaka University and from 1997-98 educational session it was affiliated from National University as Degree level with Honours courses and in the session 2001-02 it was affiliated with Masters courses . At present in H.S.C level it is affiliated with Arts and Humanities group , Business Studies group , and with Science group . In Degree level it has B.A, B.S.S , B.B.S and B.Sc courses Besides, it has Honours courses in Nine subjects and Masters in Three subjects . At present 125 Teachers and Employees are in service and it has about 3500 students who are being imparted lessons here regularly
