After the liberation war in 1971 Bangabir kader Siddique Bir uttam, Commander in cheif of Kaderia bahini, along with the people of all walks of life and the freedom fighters of Sakhipur established mujib college named after Banglabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation on 14 February 1972 to provide the people of educationally back ward Sakhipur with higher education. The people of sakhipur honoured Bangabir kader Siddique Bir uttam as the founder of the college for his pioneering role in establishing the college. The armed forces used the collgeg as army camp affter Banga bandhu was killed on 15 August 1975. The activities of the college were resumed in 1976. Now the college is a fully fledged degree college. According to the direction of the the honourable priminister Sheikh Hasins the College started offering honours courses in Political science and Social work from 2012. At present the number of students of the college is 1450. The area of land of the college is 16 acres.
