Kishoreganj was proud for its wonderful glorious history. In the middle-age its cultural characteristics were so bright that the then Bengal declared Kishoreganj as the `Cultural Capital'. Afterwards Kishoreganj lagged behind on the issue of Science, Culture & Education. Prejudice occupied the society. The picture of female education was very miserable in Kishoreganj Municipal Area. Some elites of the town initiated to establish a college for women and in that time the only `Kishoreganj Govt. Women College' was running. In the 4th Nov. of 1992 Kishoreganj Municipal Authority in collaboration with some other educationists started the `Poura Mohila College' on a land of Municipality of 1.47 acre.
