Cox’s Bazar Mahila College was established by a group of educationists, philanthropists, social workers with able stewardship of Mr Osman Sarwar Alam Chowdhury, ex MP, ambassador on the date of 31 August 1986. Osman Sarwar Alam Chowdhury voluntarily adorned the post of honourary principal. It was none but the then Prime minister Sheikh Hasina who declared the college along with other seventeen women’s college as government college on 7 April 1997. So, from the date of 7April 1997, the college got renamed as Cox’s Bazar Govt Mahila College. Initially students were enrolled only at the level of intermediate, now students are enrolled at degree level also. There are around fifteen hundred students who are pursuing their studies in different groups of humanities, science and Business studies at intermediate and degree level. A sophisticated library, a computer lab and three science laboratories are always in support of the students. There are twelve academic staff and six supporting lower level staff are engaged in academic and non academic activities.
