Mirpur College is situated at the centre of Mirpur-one of the largely populated areas in Dhaka city. Though established in the year 1970, it has already attained the reputation of being one of the best colleges in the country. This has been possible for the relentless effort of the teachers, the co-operation of the people of Mirpur and the perseverance of the students. The college has gained a new dimension in the field of education under the direct supervision and instruction of the chairman of the governing body Mr. Aslamul Haque, honorable member of the parliament (Dhaka-Constituency- 14). Students from deferent parts of the country study here. The college runs honours courses in Bangla, English, Political Science, Social Work, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, Management, Finance and Banking, BBA (Professional), and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Masters courses that the college runs are English, Accounting and Marketing. Masters course for Management and Social Work are under the mode of operation. Along with the honours courses the college also runs HSC (Science, Business Studies and Humanities) and Business Management course. There are two buildings of which the first one in five-storyed and the other is fifteen-storyed which is under construction. For the facilitation of education there is a huge library in the college enriched with adequate books and modern facilities. The college is also proud a having a air conditioned computer lab and an English Language centre. To lead a disciplined life and encourage the students to humanitarian and social services ‘Rover Scout’ plays a vital role in the college.
